Autodesk Error: The required component Autodesk RealDWG Shared is missing or improperly installed.

Problem:

When opening Revit you receive the following error message.

Solutions:

Repair all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables on your machine.

  1. Open Windows Control Panel.
  2. Go to Programs and Features.
  3. Right-click on each instance of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and select Change.
  4. Click Repair.
  5. Repeat this process for each C++ Redistributable.
  6. Once complete, restart your machine and try launching Civil 3D.

Uninstall and reinstall all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables on your machine.

  1. Open Windows Control Panel.
  2. Go to Programs and Features.
  3. Right-click on each instance of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and select Uninstall.
  4. Reinstall the C++ Redistributables from the appropriate source.
  5. Be sure to install both the x64 and x86 versions.

Perform a clean uninstall of Revit.

  1. Open Windows Control Panel.
  2. Go to Programs and Features.
  3. Right-click on the appropriate version of Revit and select Uninstall.
  4. Once Revit has been uninstalled, run the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter (formerly "Fix It") to remove any remaining components.
  5. Reinstall Revit using the Direct Download method from the Autodesk portal.
