Solution:
Make sure you have the Vault Client installed for that version.
You must have the Vault Client that matches the version of the Vault Addin for SolidWorks (Client) installed 1st for this to add on to.

  • Go to manage.autodesk.com
  • Login
  • Select the “Products and Services” tab.
  • Scroll down to the Autodesk Vault Client.
  •  Select "View Details".
  • Select the proper version across the top.
  • Select the Drop Down to the right of the Install Button select "Download" or "Direct Download".
  •  Save the file to a known location.
  • Run the newly downloaded installer.
  • Make sure the update is the same as your Vault Server.
  • Now attempt to install the Vault Addin for SolidWorks (Client).

Note: Make sure you are logged in as an administrator.

Autodesk also says to disable Virus Scan this can block DLL’s although this is rare.
If these fail attempt to use the command line install.

Command line install

  • Run the Downloaded installer. (This will extract the msi installer you can cancel the install that runs)Go to your Start Button in windows and search for CMD.
  • Right click the icon and run as administrator.
  • In the new Windows type “CD\” and select the <Enter> Key on your Keyboard.
  • Type “C:\Path\To\Your\Installer.msi" select <Enter> Key on your Keyboard.

Note:
“C:\Path\To\Your\“ = The path to the extracted MSI file from step one
Installer.msi = The msi file you extract in step one.
Example:
“C:\Autodesk\Vault_Professional_2026_Addin_for_SWX__31.0.76.0\ SWAddinSetupClient31.0.76.msi”

  • Check and see if the addin has been installed

If this fails, you can try and run this and generate a log file to see if there is an issue.
