Issue:
An error stating “FirstChanceExcept: ReflectionTypeLoadException:Unable to load one or more of the requested types” appears when using the Metadata Update tool from the IMAGINiT Utilities for Vault Server.
Causes:
The Metadata update tool uses the Vault Client API. When the tool is launched, the user is prompted to sign into the Vault through the Vault Client login dialog box. The problem occurs due to a conflict between the build of the Vault Client and the build of the IMAGINiT Vault Server Utility. As shown in the image below, the build of Vault Client is shown (31.0.84.0) in the image below.

This build corresponds with the “RTM” or “out of the box” build of Vault Client 2026. In other words, Vault Client does not have any updates installed. Use the link below for a full list of Vault versions and builds.

Solution:
The solution is to install updates for Vault Client 2026. The Vault Server Utilities were updated to work with updated versions of Vault Client 2026. Log into your Autodesk account at https://manage.autodesk.com to download and install an update for Vault Client to prevent the problem from occurring.
Prior to installing an update for Vault Client, it is important to determine the build of the Autodesk Data Management Console (aka ADMS Console, Vault Server). Updating a Vault Client to a higher build than the Vault Server may introduce additional communication or login errors for the Vault Client, but a lower build Vault Client can communicate with a higher build Vault Server. Although it is not required, it is best to have both Vault Client and Vault Server on matching builds.
In the example, the Vault Client is on the RTM Build of Vault Client 2026. Once you have confirmed Vault Server has at least Vault Server update 2026.1 or higher installed, Installing Vault Client update 2026.1 or higher (ideally to match the version of the Vault Server), the Metadata update will successfully process.
