How to give users permission to Install Updates from Autodesk Access

Issue:

Users who do not have install permissions on their computers need to install Autodesk updates.

Solution:

You can give users without install permissions on their computers the ability to install updates of Autodesk products using Autodesk Access. These users will only be able to install updates through Access, and not through their Autodesk account. To do this, we will create a Windows registry setting with the key name of AllowSystemContextInstall.

1. From the Search bar in Windows, type in regedit
2. Click Run as administrator
3. Browse to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\ODIS folder
4. Right-click on the folder ODIS and choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value
5. Enter AllowSystemContextInstall for the name
6. Right-click on AllowSystemContextInstall and choose "Modify..."
7. Put in the value of 1 
8. This will give the user permission to install Autodesk updates from Autodesk Access on this machine
