Factory Asset Publishing Error 'The template file needs to be migrated'

Issue:

Publishing a Factory Asset in Inventor fails while trying to publish the 2D drawing with this error:

Cause:

  • The DWG template in the Project's template folder needs to be migrated.
  • Factory Design Utilities installation problem.

Solution:

  1. Open your Project's drawing templates and save to migrate them to the current Inventor version.

For example in Factory Design 2024:

Open and save the ANSI(in).dwg in the default Inventor template location in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2024\Templates\en-US\English

2. If this doesn't resolve the error, uninstall and reinstall the Factory Design Utilities:
