Autodesk Vault Client 'System.TypeinitializationException' Error

November 20, 2025 Shawn Heator

Issue:

When Vault Client is launched on a user system, often after initial install, installing an update, or removing an update, the error dialog box below appears, and Vault Client will not open. The image below depicts Vault 2025, but the problem may occur with other versions too.

Causes:

There is a problem with the Autodesk Interoperability Engine. Closer inspection of the error will show the phrase “.Common.Engines.EngineUtility”. See the example image below with the highlighted phrase.

Solution:

The official Autodesk Knowledgebase article, below, contains several suggestions that include a new installation of Vault Client, reinstalling Vault Client, and running the installer for the original installation media.

The simplest solution is to download and install the latest version of the Autodesk Interoperablity Engine from the link below. It is not necessary to uninstall the current Autodesk Interoperabiliyt Engine. The update can be applied to the existing version of the Autodesk Interoperability Engine. This solution will work for several versions of Vault.

InteroperabilityEngineManager.1.3.5.exe

Once installed, Vault Client should successfully launch and open as expected.
