Vault Client 2024.2 update and Dark Theme Reports background

December 27, 2023 Shawn Heator

Issue:

The latest update for Vault Client 2024 (Vault 2024.2) introduces a Reports tab, in the preview section, when selecting a folder. While using the Light Theme, the Reports sections matches the rest of the Vault Client interface. When the color Theme is changed to the Dark Theme, the Reports sections does not match the rest of the Vault Client interface.

The image below displays the new Reports section using the standard Light Theme in Vault. Notice the background color for the Reports section matches the rest of the Vault Client interface.

The image below displays the new Reports sections using the Dark Theme. Notice the background for Reports stands out when compared to the rest of the Vault Client interface.

Users have reported the contrast between the standard Reports background, while using the Dark Theme, is visually uncomfortable.

Causes:

The problem is caused by the Vault 2024.2 update and the introduction of the Reports section. The Dark Theme does not apply to the new Reports feature.

Solution:

There are three “Themes” available in the Vault Client: Light, Dark, and Classic. The contrasting background color issue is not present when using the Light or Classic Themes. To change the Theme in Vault, go to Tools>Options.

Select the drop-down arrow next to Theme to select your desired Vault Theme.

Only the Dark Theme is affected by the contrast issue. Select either the Light or Classic Theme to avoid the high contract background issue present for the Dark Theme. Currently the visual problem is under investigation by Autodesk as Incident ID 41848. The issue is expected to be resolved by a future update.
