Issue:
How do I collect installation logs for support when an Autodesk product fails to install?
Solution:
Autodesk provides the Installation Log Collection Tool (AdskODISLogCollectionTool.exe). It gathers all installation logs into one package that you can send to IMAGINiT or Autodesk support.
The tool collects:
-
Version XML files
-
The Install, Package and Local Cache databases
- All .log files in the System Temp folder and the user's %TEMP% folder
Steps
-
Download the tool from Autodesk's article: How to Use the Installation Log Collection Tool.
-
Right-click AdskODISLogCollectionTool.exe and select Run as administrator.
- Type y to accept the EULA, and hit ENTER.
- After the Installation Log Collection Tool completes, a popup window will appear to show where the zip file was saved.
-
Upload the log package to the link provided by your support engineer, and include your case number.
Important: Run the tool on the computer where the install failed, before retrying the install or cleaning up files. If you retry and it fails again, run the tool again so support has the latest logs.
Note: The tool does not support silent mode or command-line parameters, so it cannot be pushed out with SCCM, Intune, GPO or PDQ. It must be run manually on each workstation. See Launch the Autodesk Installation Log Collector Tool in silent mode.
Note: This tool is for installation issues only. For sign-in or licensing issues, see How to collect Autodesk Licensing log files for troubleshooting.
