AutoCAD products request admin credentials or give a Error 1730

Issue:

AutoCAD and vertical products 2022 to 2026 request admin credentials or return an "Error 1730" on the first run after an installation.

Solution:

Users have reported that after installing the following Windows Security Updates, this triggers the issue:

  • Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5063875) for Windows 11
  • Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5064010) for Windows 11
  • Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5063877) for Windows 10

The Autodesk secondary installer calls the MSI during the first run of the product. This requires Administrator rights when the Windows updates (mentioned above) have been installed.

Microsoft pubilished this as a Known Issue: Non-admins might receive unexpected UAC prompts when doing MSI repair operations

Microsoft has released updates on Setember 9, 2025, to fix this issue:
