Policy Change Alert:
Beginning with the release of Revit 2027, Revit Cloud Models functionality will be limited to the current release (2027) plus the five previous versions (2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022). Revit versions older than 2022 will no longer support cloud collaboration or access to Revit Cloud Models on BIM 360/ACC.
With each new Revit release, the oldest Revit version that previously included access to Revit Cloud Models will be deprecated. For example, once Revit 2028 is released, Revit Cloud Models will no longer be accessible using Revit 2022.
Note: Revit versions older than 2022 will still be able to be used for local worksharing on a file server.
Why The Change:
Autodesk cites a few main reasons for this policy, but here are a couple of key factors:
- Older versions are dependent on outdated systems which may not be compatible with the cloud platform
- Aligns with Autodesk's current "Previous Version Policy"
What Action Do I Take:
Customers working on Revit 2021 and older cloud models should begin planning on whether to 1) upgrade the cloud models to a supported version (2022 or later), or 2) download the cloud models to continue working on them on a local network.
