Pipe Network Structures Not Connecting to Pipes

Title:

Pipe Network Structures Not Connecting to Pipes

 Applies to:

Civil 3D

Issue:

Structures (like manholes or inlets) appear placed correctly in plan view but do not connect to pipes in the Civil 3D pipe network. The system does not treat them as part of the same network.

Causes:

The structures and pipes may have been placed separately instead of using the “Structure First” or “Pipe Network from Object” tools, or there may be a Z-elevation mismatch between the objects.

Solution:

1 – Use Pipe Network > Pipe Network Vista to check which structures/pipes are connected

2 – If disconnected, use the Edit Pipe Network command and manually connect parts

3 – Confirm all parts are in the same pipe network

4 – Check elevation settings; use AutoCAD Properties or Edit Structure/ Pipe Elevation tools to align elevations

5 – If needed, delete and re-place the pipe or structure using the Structure First method
