Infraworks Models Won't Open from Cloud Drives

January 8, 2024 Ryan Wunderlich

Issue:
Infraworks models stored on cloud drives (like Sharepoint, One Drive, etc.) will not open when launched from Infraworks.  Models stored in Autodesk Construction Cloud and/or BIM 360 do not exhibit this behavior.  This includes your Desktop and My Documents that are synched to One Drive.

Causes:
Infraworks models are not designed or intended to be stored in this method, as there are files without extensions and other items that cause issues with Cloud-based storage.  This can also manifest with Distributed File systems, since there are files that do not get copied over during replication.

Solution:
Create a folder on your local machine or on a standard Microsoft-based server storage and place your model there.
