One or more rooms not showing in plan views in Revit

May 1, 2026 Shlomo Okoye

Issue:
After inserting a room in a specific enclosure, it does not show in plan views and a room tag is not displayed, however the room shows in elevations and sections. Other rooms show correctly in plan views.

Cause:
One or more room bounding elements overlaps, or is improperly placed within the enclosure. Elements that can cause such behavior include Room separators, Wall elements, Ceilings, Floor elements, Roof elements, Columns, and Building pads.

Solution:
To fix this problem, check for room bounding elements within the space that shouldn’t be part of the primary boundary.

•    Toggle Reveal Hidden Elements to reveal elements that may be hidden.

•    Toggle off room bounding for element that shouldn’t be part of room boundaries.

•    For elements like room separators where room bounding can’t be toggled off, you may either modify them or delete them if they’re not wanted.
