Change the Port to the IMAGINiT Reprise License Managers’ Interface

December 4, 2021 Jeff Lotan

Issue:

You want to know how to change the default port that the IMAGINiT Reprise License Manager uses for the web-interface.

Causes:

When there are multiple Reprise License Managers (RLM) installed on a server for different vendors sometimes the web interface will only show one vendor’s licenses. If this happens, we can change the port and modify which port is used for the IMAGINiT RLM interface.

Solution:

We need to change the Port to the Reprise License Managers’ Interface from 5054 to 5056 (or other unused port).

Note: these steps should be handled by an Advanced user or System Administrator/IT professional only and needs to be performed on the machine that has the IMAGINiT RLM installed on it (typically a server).

Warning! Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows registry could render your computer/operating system unusable. Microsoft provides a wealth of critical information that you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.  Use the Microsoft® Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry as well as the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined for your operating system in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.  Additional information about the registry is also contained in the Help topics in the Microsoft Registry Editor.

Add a new switch in the registry, -ws port#, by following the steps below.

1. Run REGEDIT in Windows

2. Browse to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\IMAGINiT Reprise License Manager.

3. Double click ImagePath under the Name column.

It is a long path and we do have 2 versions of the license manager, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit.  Above image is for the  64-bit version.

32-bit version:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\IMAGINiT Technologies\Reprise License Manager\rlm.exe" "-dlog" "C:\ProgramData\IMAGINiT Technologies\Reprise License Manager\install.log" -service

64-bit version:

"C:\Program Files\IMAGINiT Technologies\Reprise License Manager\rlm.exe" "-dlog" "C:\ProgramData\IMAGINiT Technologies\Reprise License Manager\install.log" -service

4. Add “-ws 5056” after “–service” without the quotes. So that’s a dash (-) ws (I used lower case and it worked, however upper case may also work), then an unused port number. Hopefully Port 5056 is available, but if not, use another port that is not being used.

5. Stop/Start the service.

6. When you click the “Website” button, it will bring up the wrong interface in the browser, as it is hardcoded from that button, or it may just show you the other vendors licensing information.

7. Change the port in the browser to "localhost:5056" and hit enter.

You may want to save a bookmark/favorite to get to it easier next time.
