Bridge Revit file in ACC

July 1, 2024 Gregory Lee

The Bridge project file-sharing feature allows users to link project files across different projects. However, bridged Revit files can't be linked normally.

Bridged files store data in the Docs, which is the root cause of not being able to link through external sources.

While the Bridge won't allow Revit files to be shared and linked directly, you can bridge the project through design collaboration, which allows users to share the model across different projects. The following requirements are needed to share the Revit file across projects:

  1. The project needs to be using Design Collaboration and its workflow.
  2. This feature is only available through the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform. The Bridge can't link between ACC and BIM 360 platforms.
  3. hared packages created after automation are available in the host project.

Follow the instructions below to set up the Bridge to share the Revit file across projects:

  1. Clarify the source project and target project. Although it's possible to share the file in both directions, I will use omnidirectional settings as an example.
  2. Activate the bridge by clicking "Bridge a new project."
  3. Enter the project admin's email of the other project to request the bridge.
  4. The bridge project admin will receive the email and choose the project to be bridged.
  5. Select the project after clicking the email link.
  6. Under Design Collaboration of the target project, click the link under Bridge Team automation that needs to be bridged with the source project.
  7. The source project will now have an external project timeline generated in the Project timeline.
  8. Now whenever the target project shares the package, the source project will receive the package.

These steps outline how to set up the Bridge to effectively share Revit files across projects.
