Bridge Revit file in ACC

April 30, 2025 Gregory Lee

How to Bridge the files across the project:
You can share models across projects using Bridge. This method allows for effective cross-project model sharing. The following requirements must be met:

  1. This feature is only available through the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) platform.
  2. Bridge cannot link between ACC and BIM 360 platforms.
  3. Publishing the Revit file is required to update the bridged Revit file.

Linking Methods for Bridging Revit Files:

There are two different methods of bridging Revit files, based on the linking method used.

Direct Linking Method:

Steps to Set Up Bridge for Sharing Revit Files Across Projects for the user using direct linking methods:

  1. From the source project, navigate to Docs > Bridge > Outgoing > Files and Folders.
  2. Select the folder that contains the file you want to share with the target project.
  3. Fill out the required information for the target project and target folder where the shared folder and file will be placed.
  4. Click the Share button at the bottom to complete the process.
  5. A notification email will be sent to your inbox once the process is completed.

 Design Collaboration Method:

Steps to Set Up Bridge for Sharing Revit Files Across Projects using Design Collaboration:

  1. Identify the source and target projects.
While it's possible to share files bidirectionally, this example uses an omnidirectional setup.
  2. Activate bridge by clicking "Bridge a new project" in the Design Collaboration module.
  3. Enter the project admin's email for the other project to request the bridge.
  4. The bridge project admin will receive an email and select the project to be bridged.
  5. Click the link in the email to select the project for bridging.
  6. In the Design Collaboration section of the target project, click the link under Bridge Team automation to connect it with the source project.
  7. The source project will now display an external project timeline in its Project Timeline view.
  8. When the target project shares a package, the source project will automatically receive it.

These steps outline how to set up Bridge to effectively share Revit files across projects using Design Collaboration.
