AutoCAD: When Plotting a PDF, Characters are Plotted as Dots

June 17, 2022 Jeff Arbogast

Issue:

AutoCAD, When Plotting a PDF, Characters are Plotted as Dots.

Causes:

  • Certain True Type Fonts may need a higher Vector Resolution.
  • The Fonts are Open Type Fonts with no Outline.
  • Unsupported Characters.

Solution:

  • Launch AutoCAD.
  • Start the Plot command.
  • Select the DWG2PDF.pc3.
  • Select PDF Options.
  • Select “Capture fonts Used in the drawing”.
  • Try to Plot again.

This will cause the PDF to capture the Text as imagery rather than trying to use them as Text Object.
