Issue:
IMAGINiT Utilities Network License: How to extend the timeout variable for license requests.
When using the Reprise License Manager with the IMAGINiT Utilities, a slow network connection may prevent a license from being obtained. In these situations, users may encounter errors such as -17, even though valid licenses are available.
This behavior occurs because, when the utilities are launched, a license request is sent to the Reprise License Manager with a default timeout of 5 seconds. If the license is not granted within this time frame due to network latency or slow connectivity, the request times out, resulting in an error and failure to acquire a license.
Cause:
Slow connection
Solution:
How to set the Reprise License Manager Timeout Variable
1.) Â Â On the local system (Client side).
2.) Â Â Open Windows Environment Variables.
3.) Â Â Start a new System Variable.
4.) Â Â Type RLM_COMM_TIMEOUT for the variable name.
5.) Â Â Enter 8000 (8 seconds) for the Value.
6.) Â Â Select OK.
7.) Â Â OK again to exit the Environment variable dialog.
8.) Â Â Now test the Utilities.
We are using a high number this number can change by increasing or decreasing the value. This way you can zero in on the best value for yourself.

Note:
LM_CONNECT_TIMEOUT
RLM_CONNECT_TIMEOUT sets the application timeout for a connection to an individual
license server. If RLM_CONNECT_TIMEOUT is set, the connection timeout will be set to the
value of this environment variable. The minimum connection timeout is 5 seconds, and the default
is 10 seconds. If RLM_CONNECT_TIMEOUT is set to a negative value, the connect timeout will
be the absolute value of RLM_CONNECT_TIMEOUT, and if any particular server connection
times out, no further attempts will be made to that server again. If RLM_CONNECT_TIMEOUT
is set to a positive value, a connection will be attempted to the server even if it timed out on the
last attempt. This is the default behavior in RLM.
