Autodesk Vault 2020 Client stalls at opening after installing IMAGINiT Vault Client Utilities 2024.1

March 27, 2024 Bob Felton

Issue:

When the IMAGINiT Utilities for Vault Client 2024.1 were announced in an email to previous client utility users on March 11, 2024 the email noted that this version will install client add-ins for Vault versions 2020-2024 on your machine.

However, after installing the 2024.1 update on a workstation with the Vault 2020 client, when the client starts up it appears to stall at the splash screen (product logo).

If you scroll through background windows with Alt+Tab, then Tab again several times, you can see this 'Extension Error' message displayed in front of the splash screen:

Error loading extension C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Vault
2020\Extensions\IMAGINIT.VaultJobs\IMAGINIT.VaultJobs20.vcet.config.

When you bring that Extension Error alert to the front and click OK, it will dismiss that error and allow the Vault client to run.

But it will return with the next start-up of Vault. Also, DWF creation jobs may not be completed successfully.

Causes:

An oversight in the config file mentioned in the error message causes the problem. It's located here:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Vault 2020\Extensions\IMAGINiT.VaultJobs\IMAGINiT.VaultJobs20.vcet.config

Solution:

You can either correct the version to 25.0.0.0 as shown above, save, and start up again and that would fix it.

Or just download the newest release from the same download link and that corrects the oversight too.

One advantage of the reinstall with the latest 2024.1 Update is that it will also correct the clipped buttons on the new 'Display Message: Admin' feature:

Corrected with the Version 24.1.8840.26807 [3/15/2024] as shown from About.
