2 Ways to Export in Fabrication CADmep

December 4, 2023 Heather Volk

Info:
The most common ways to export an MAJ out of Fabrication are using these two commands:
1.    CREATECAM: Exports the .itms and changes the status after the export to specific status that is set in the database settings.

2.    CREATEREVITMAJ: Exports the .itms without changing the item status. This helps the data process when pulled into Revit.

Steps:
CREATECAM: Type in “Createcam” and then Enter. Then select the items to export and select enter again. A window will pop up asking what to name it and where to save the .MAJ file. Name it and select the appropriate path and select “Save.”

** Tip: Name the MAJ with a short name, but include project information like project number, area of building, floor of building and service. Example: 1234-A-L1-SA

CREATEREVITMAJ: Type in “Createrevitmaj” and then Enter. Then select the items to export and select enter again. A window will pop up asking what to name it and where to save the .MAJ file. Name it and select the appropriate path and select “Save.”

Additional Info:
One other workflow that allows you to export is by using the Fabrication menu’s.
1.    Right click anywhere in model space > CADmep > CAM:

2.    Select the items and select Enter.
3.    A window will pop up asking what to name it and where to save the .MAJ file. Name it and select the appropriate path and select “Save.”

Conclusion:
There are multiple ways to export a MAJ in Fabrication, it really comes down to what you need in the end and where it is going.
