Revit Cannot Run External Application APL

Issue:
When launching Revit in any version the following error appears:

Of course, you must have Autodesk Point Layout installed as well. 


Causes:
Conflicting and / or multiple versions of Point Layout are installed. 


Solution:
The solution is simple, the latest version of Autodesk Point Layout needs to be installed. Any other versions need to be uninstalled. 


The latest version of “APL” will work for versions 2020 to 2024. 
**Note: Revit 2020 needs to be current on all updates**
