Mechanical: I want to Manage the Layers of my Mechanical Content

Issue:
Mechanical: I want to Manage the Layers of my Mechanical Content.
When you insert Content such as Beams, Bolts, etc. Mechanical automatically places these on its own Layers. However you would like to be able to control the Layer Properties on your own rather than have Mechanical do this.

Solution:
How to disable Mechanical control over Content Layer Management

  • Type OPTIONS at the command line and select the <Enter> Key on your Keyboard.
  • Go to the AM Standards Tab.

  • Select the Standard you would like such as ANSI.
  • On the right side of the Dialog under Standards Elements.
  • Double Click (Or right click) on ANSI.
  • On the new Dialog Uncheck “Let AutoCAD Mechanical manage object properties”.

  • Select OK
  • Select OK

You should now be able to control the Layers of mechanical Content.
