In AutoCAD, pressing F8 to toggle ortho on or off doesn't work on laptop PC

Issue:

When switching the use of AutoCAD from a desktop PC to a laptop, pressing the F8 function key no longer toggles ORTHO snap mode on or off, like it did in AutoCAD on the desktop PC.

Causes:

By default, the function keys are set to 'Multimedia key' mode instead of the expected 'Function key' mode.

Solution:

To change the laptop's keyboard to use the 'Function key' mode, press Fn and Esc keys together.

Now F8 will set Snap to Ortho mode and other function keys like F1 for Help, F2 for command line history, F3 for snap etc, will also work.

If you need to set volume using F1, F2 or F3 or set multiple monitor settings with F8, etc, then toggle Function key mode off to make adjustments, then back on for AutoCAD.
