Add-A-Plotter or Add-A-Plot Style invalid link

April 18, 2022 Ryan Wunderlich

Issue:

When launching any AutoCAD-based programs or trying to plot, you get one or more of the following errors:

Causes:

This problem is usually a very simple issue.  Those invalid shortcuts are pointing to a location that no longer exists.

Solution:

There are two ways to resolve this.

  1. Simply navigate to the location shown in the error message and delete the shortcut
  2. Right mouse click on the shortcut, and select Properties

In the Shortcut Properties, locate the target box, and update the path there to a more current version

The above example shows AutoCAD 2023 (the full target is):

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2023\addplwiz.exe" /LANGUAGE en-US

Simply update it to the correct version and the error should go away.
