Pipe Insulation thickness unit override with Project Unit setting

Version: Revit 2024 and earlier.

Issue:

The added Pipe Insulation Thickness parameter unit cannot be controlled by the project unit.

Process to replicate the issue:

  1. Add Pipe Insulation Thickness parameter to Pipe tag.
  2. Load the tag into the project and tag the pipe with insulation.
  3. Update the unit setting under Manage > Project Unit.
  4. The update has no impact on properties and tag.

Causes:

This is a Revit bug that has persisted for the last several versions of Revit.

Solution:

There isn’t any solution for this issue. Autodesk has stated that this will be addressed in Revit 2025. The workaround is changing the unit setting for HVAC Duct Insulation Thickness, which will reflect the pipe insulation accordingly.
