Civil 3D 2022 Custom Install missing Start Menu shortcuts

Issue:

After installing Civil 3D 2022 using the Custom Install option, the Civil 3D Imperial and Civil 3D Metric shortcuts are missing from the Windows Start Menu.

The Civil 3D as AutoCAD 2022 shortcut is the only one that’s installed:

The Civil 3D 2022 Imperial and Civil 3D Metric shortcuts that are installed with a standard installation:

Causes:

When creating Custom Install for Civil 3D 2022, if under the Customizations section the Civil 3D Imperial and Civil 3D Metric profiles are not selected, those shortcuts will not be created:

Per Autodesk this is as designed:

  • Shortcuts will not be created on the Desktop or in the Windows Start Menu.
  • The installation will however create a Civil 3D as AutoCAD shortcut in the Start Menu even if Create desktop shortcut for Civil 3D as AutoCAD isn’t selected.

  • In previous versions there was a separate option to create a desktop shortcut in addition to the profile.

Solution:

Add the Civil 3D Imperial or Civil 3D Metric profile under Customizations

  • To create a Civil 3D Imperial and/or Civil 3D Metric shortcut in the Start Menu add the profile under the Customizations-Select Profiles to Install section.

►If unselected, both profiles will still get created on install but their shortcut won't be created in the Start Menu or Desktop.

Export a Civil 3D profile and add it to the deployment

  • Install Civil 3D 2022 on a machine.
  • Export a profile in OPTIONS on the Profiles tab.
  • Under the Customization-Custom Profile section browse to the saved profile.

►On install this will create a custom shortcut with the profile name in the Start Menu.
