Inventor-create a composite feature control frame tolerance annotation

Issue:

How to create a GD&T composite feature control frame annotation in Inventor. 

For example, you need to create a composite positional tolerance frame instead of a multi segment feature control frame.

Solution:

Start the Tolerance Feature command on the Annotate ribbon:

Select the feature the composite tolerance will be attached to. 

In this example, the hole pattern requires a composite positional tolerance.  Click OK.

Place the annotation in the graphics window:

Choose the Add Composite option under Add Segment:

This will add a second segment as a composite instead of multi-segment or stacked tolerance.

Edit the Feature Control Frame values and datum references as needed and click OK to place the annotation:

This method applies to composite surface profiles as well. Choose Add Composite to convert a new tolerance segment to a composite:
