NOTE: Warning! Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows registry could render your computer/operating system unusable. Microsoft provides a wealth of critical information that you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Use the Microsoft® Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry as well as the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined for your operating system in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Additional information about the registry is also contained in the Help topics in the Microsoft Registry Editor.
- Type registry in the "Type here to search" at the bottom left of the taskbar in Windows and click on "Run as administrator"
2. In the Registry Editor go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
3. Right-click "Shell Folders" on the left side panel and choose "Export" to create a backup of the registry key.
4. On the right side panel, search for entries that list the drive letter referenced in the error message.
5. Modify the value of those entries to point to C:\ drive and verify that the folder path referenced in the key value exists.
6. Repeat the same steps for the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
7. Try the Autodesk Installation again.
