Autodesk Vault Gateway returns “could not find Data Management Services” error

March 28, 2023 Heath White

Issue:
When your users try to log into Vault via the Vault Gateway, they receive the following error: “Vault Professional 202X could not find the Data Management Service on xxxxx.autodesk.com”

However, Vault is accessible by users within the network, all Vault services appear to be running on the server, and the Gateway shows as connected in the ADMS Console.
Causes:
This error is due to an incorrect format being used when putting the server information into your login dialog in your Vault client.
Solution:
The most common mistakes are inputting the actual server name or just the Gateway address without the “https://.”

The proper format is shown below, just replace the “X’s” with your Gateway Hostname:

Once you apply the proper format, you should be able to get logged into Vault via the Gateway. If you are unsure of the proper format, a Vault administrator can copy the Gateway Hostname from the ADMS Console as shown below, and then distribute that to the users.
