Inventor Factory model is missing some assets when opened in Navisworks

Issue:

When a Factory Model that was created using the Autodesk Factory Design Utility (FDU) is loaded into Autodesk Navisworks Manage, some of the FDU assets are missing.

Causes:

The usual suggestions are not working for when some parts from the Inventor model are missing or displayed differently in Navisworks, as detailed here and here.

Solution:

The confirmed solution was to open a new Navisworks project and import the .iam assembly. That also dramatically decreased the load times and solved a display anomaly with views shown from the view cube.

Special thanks for developing the confirmed solution by Michael Horst.
