Inventor Assemblies open in Navisworks Orientation issue

Issue:
When importing Inventor objects into Navisworks, the orientation of the imported inventor part doesn’t appear to be correct.  This has to do with the difference in which program thinks is the “top” view.

Causes:

Autodesk Inventor Z orientation is in the same direction as the Y axis in Navisworks. When the model is open the top of the Inventor model is facing the front view orientation in Navisworks.

In Inventor parts or assemblies, the Z direction is oriented to the front view and when opened in Navisworks the top of the Inventor Model will be oriented to the front view direction.

In Navisworks the Z direction is oriented to the top view direction.

Solution:
The Assembly shows the cylinders end face pointing in the positive Z direction and the cylinder ends need to be oriented to the top view direction.

To set Inventor’s front view direction to a flat view direction, select the front face of the view cube.

Hover over the view cube and right mouse click on the home symbol.

Select Set Current View as and then select Top.

Save file and open the assembly in Navisworks. The front should now be oriented to the Top view.

Before setting the top View in Autodesk Inventor opened in Navisworks

After setting the top view orientation in Autodesk Inventor opened in Navisworks

Changing the view cube orientation for Top does not change the orientation of the model in Inventor.
