Vault Job Processor has stalled for days making DWFs after a power outage

Issue:

In the rare instance when power fails and the Job Processor was in the middle of a job, the completion of common jobs such as the DWF visualization task may not continue running.

Further, it may not be noticed that the DWF jobs have not been running for days.

Causes:

The sudden loss of power can corrupt Windows registry settings for applications that were in use when the power dropped.

Solution:

If the reinstallation of the Vault client does not resolve the problem of getting the Job processor to finish jobs, then replacing the Windows Registry keys from a 'donor' machine with the same OS that can process jobs successfully has been proven to work.

On the working machine, locate and export the registry keys for the Vault clients and Autodesk DWG TrueView of the same edition as Vault. For example, DWG TrueView 2022 for Vault Pro 2022.

Warning! Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows registry could render your computer/operating system unusable. Microsoft provides a wealth of critical information that you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.  Use the Microsoft® Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry as well as the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined for your operating system in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.  Additional information about the registry is also contained in the Help topics in the Microsoft Registry Editor.

Open RegEdit (Start > Run > Regedit) and navigate to \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Autodesk and export both the DWG TrueView key and Vault Professional key, like this:

On the problem machine, where the Job Processor has stalled, close the Job processor and Vault client, if open.

Then move the two exported registry keys from the donor machine to the desktop.

To update and overwrite the damaged keys, double-click each .reg file and accept the option to load.

That procedure will replace the damaged information in these two registry keys and has been confirmed to work.
