Substation Design Suite Physical for AutoCAD: AUD Grid Creation

By: Akhilesh Trivedi

A new command is now available called AUDFEATUREGRID, which automatically generates a grid of connected features within a selected polyline boundary. To use the command, first construct a closed polyline. Note that it has to be closed, and simply using osnap to connect the ends does not work. Then use AUDFEATUREGRID to select that polyline. From there, a prompt will appear allowing you to choose a base point.

Use the following keywords to adjust various parameters of the grid:

Angle: The angle at which the grid will be generated
gridHorizontal: The horizontal spacing of the grid lines
gridVertical: The vertical spacing of the grid lines
Depth: The depth below the base point at which the grid will be generated

After the options are set, picking a base point ends the prompt and generates the grid. Along with the above settings, the command supports configuration through the "Feature Grid Options" option in the General Layout tab.

This collection of options allows for the creation of sets of the parameters listed above.
Use these to change the following settings:

Keyword: The keyword associated with these settings. It will appear in the list of keywords in the AUDFEATUREGRID command after selecting the boundary.
Point Feature Class: The feature class used for points on the Grid
Point Installation: The installation used for points on the Grid
Point LineType: The linetype used for points on the Grid
Line Feature Class: The feature class used for lines on the Grid
Line Installation: The installation used for lines on the Grid
Line LineType: The linetype used for lines on the Grid

The first option in the list will be used as the default set of parameters when running AUDFEATUREGRID regardless of whether it has a keyword or not. Others can be accessed with their assigned Keyword.
