Inventor 2020 error: 'Could not start the Autodesk Desktop Connect Service. The required services (Autodesk Desktop Connect and Guided Tut

When launching Inventor 2020 this message appears. You can continue working but it appears every time you start the program:

"Could not start the Autodesk Desktop Connect Service. The required services (Autodesk Desktop Connect and Guided Tutorial Plugin) may have been uninstalled."

The error is caused by a missing or incomplete Autodesk Desktop Connect Service and/or Autodesk Guided Tutorial Plugin installation.

First try reinstalling Autodesk Desktop Connect Service and Autodesk Guided Tutorial PlugIn from the media folder under x64\LWS:

Eg. C:\Autodesk\Inventor_Pro_2020_English_Win_64bit_dlm\x64\LWS

  • Right-click on the AutodeskDesktopConnect.msi and choose Uninstall then Install. If it wasn't installed choose Install.
  • Right-click on the AutodeskGuidedTutorialPlugIn.msi and do the same.

If this doesn't get rid of the error, uninstall Inventor and the Autodesk Inventor shared desktop connect components(Autodesk Desktop Connect Service and Autodesk Guided Tutorial Plugin).
Use the Autodesk Uninstall Tool or uninstall from Control Panel.

Turn off User Account Control and your anti-virus before reinstalling.
