Point Groups - Hiding Labels while keeping your Trees

June 19, 2023 Dana Rice

How often do point labels and Xs' clutter up your Civil 3D drawings?

Freezing point labels may result in freezing the tree and valve symbols as well, so that is not a good solution. What is the correct workflow?

Create a Point Group that will override point labels while maintaining point symbols set by user-defined blocks.

  1. Start by creating a New Point Group. Set the Default Styles to <none>
  2. Include All Points in this group
  3. Set the Overrides exactly as shown in the screenshot below

You are now ready to sort your new Point Group to the top of the priority list.

Right-click on the word Point Groups in the Prospector tab of Toolspace and select Properties.

Use the priority arrows to sort your new point group to the top.

End results...a much cleaner drawing
