AutoCAD 2023- 'Import Failed' error importing a Solidworks file

Issue:

Importing a Solidworks part(.sldprt) or assembly(.sldasm) file in AutoCAD 2023 results in an Import Failed error. 

The same files import on other AutoCAD 2023 installations or in Inventor 2023. 

The error can occur with Solidworks 2022 files.

Cause:

Missing AutoCAD 2023 updates. The error is fixed in AutoCAD 2023.1.

Solution:

Install the latest AutoCAD update from Autodesk Access or Autodesk Account.

Currently AutoCAD 2023.1.4.

Verify your AutoCAD version at the top right under About AutoCAD 2023:

AutoCAD 2023 can import up to Solidworks 2022.
