Slanted and Tapered Walls in Revit

Issue:

Unable to place a slanted or tapered wall.

Causes:

Uncertain how to slant or taper a wall in Revit.

Solution:

Slanted Wall

  1. Place a wall
  2. Select the wall
  3. In the "Properties" pallet, under "Constraints," look for "Cross-Section Definition" in the left column, then select "Slanted" from the right column
  4. In "Angle From Vertical," type in the desired angle

Tapered Wall

  1. Place a wall

2. Select the wallIn the "Properties" pallet, under "Constraints," look for "Cross-Section Definition" in the left column, then select "Tapered" from the right column

3. If an error pop-up appears:

 

  • Enable the Variable option in the wall assembly. Select the center layer of the assembly and set it as Variable.

4. Once the variable is enabled, you should be able to set Tapered under Cross-Section Definition in the Properties palette.

5. Toggle Enable Angle Overrides to set a custom angle for the wall.
