Ribbon Tabs Missing in Inventor When Opening Assemblies

Issue:

In Inventor, when you open certain assemblies, all but a few of the Ribbon Tabs are missing from the Ribbon. Performing a Reset of Inventor or a Rest of the Ribbon does not resolve the issue.  This does not occur with all assemblies.

Causes:

The cause appears to be assemblies containing “.inest” information from Trunest.

Solution:

Currently there is no solution available for the issue.  You can track the issues progress via the following Autodesk KB:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Open-Inventor-assembly-with-Trunest-interest-and-you-will-lose-ribbon-menus.html

Workaround:

In testing, we have found that when this occurs, disabling the Inventor Nesting Add-In (as shown in the image below) and restarting Inventor allowed users to work with the assemblies normally, with all Ribbon Tabs displaying as expected.  If Inventor Nesting capabilities are required, the Add-In will need to be reloaded as required and then unloaded again.

If the Nesting Add-In is unloaded, the next time you open an assembly containing nesting data, you will receive a notification stating:

The software to handle the environment “TruNest:Command:TRUNESTEnvironment” for file {Path and Name of File} is not loaded. Some commands may not be available on the document until you load the software {i.e., the add-in}.

You can click “Okay” and proceed to work with the file normally until you need to use the nesting tools again.
