Inventor Assembly name includes .ipt extension

Issue:

When saving an Inventor 2024 assembly, the file name extension changes from the standard assembly extension (.iam) to .ipt.iam. As shown in the image below, the file name includes the additional .ipt extension along with the expected file name extension .iam.

Causes:

This problem occurs when using Autodesk Inventor 2024 and Autodesk Vault 2024 with a numbering scheme. Only Vault Client with update 2024.3.1 will exhibit the behavior.

Solution:

Autodesk has been able to determine the problem was related to the Vault Client 2024.3.1 update and has released a fix included in update Vault 2024.4.

Prior to installing the Vault Client 2024.4 (or newer) update, it is important to install the corresponding Vault Server 2024.4 update to ensure the Client and Server can properly communicate. It is standard protocol to create a valid ADMS Console backup, or ensure a backup has been created, before installing the Vault Server update.

If you are unable to install the Vault Server update before installing the Vault Client update, then removing the Vault Client 2024.3.1 update can be a workaround. The problem does not exist in Vault Client 2024.3.
