Convert wall-based Revit families to face-based families

Issue:

When collaborating in Revit, there may be need to host families on the walls or structure of a linked model, but this is not allowed for some Revit family categories.

For example, wall-based, ceiling-based, or floor-based families will not attach to a linked Revit model.

To place families on a linked model, they must be face-based.

Currently, there is no functionality in Revit to simply convert wall-based families to face-based families.

 

Solution:

Although there is currently no supported functionality to do so in Revit, there is a workaround for converting wall-based families to face-based families.
