Force Data Reference Updates

Applies to:
All Civil 3D Versions

Issue:
Some data shortcut properties do not update from the source drawing when synchronized.

Causes:
There are many potential causes

•    Custom Part Properties
•    Property last updated in reference file
•    Synchronization errors
•    The Data Shortcuts have become corrupt.

Solution:
Use the AECCFORCESYNCHRONIZEREFERENCES command (unless you suspect the Data shortcuts are corrupt).

You can select specific references to update, or press <ENTER> to accept the default [All] option that will update all data references.

If the behavior continues after the forced synchronization, I do recommend attempting to clean the drawings of any possible data that could be triggering it:

Do that process on all DREF, XREF and the drawing with the issues synchronizing

You may also need to rebuild the data shortcuts by following these steps:

  1.  Remove the data reference from Data Shortcuts area in the tool space in the Project folder.
  2.  Recreate the shortcut in the Project folder from the original drawing.
  3.  Repair all the broken references in the drawings that use that data shortcut.
