When launching AutoCAD you get an “Unable to run AutoCAD”

Issue:

You get this error when launching AutoCAD

Solution:

  • Install any missing windows updates.
  • Uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime component:

For Windows 11 

  1. Uninstall the Microsoft WebView2 Runtime Component - start a Command Prompt using "Run as Administrator". 
  2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application in Windows Explorer and copy the version number into this command "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application\VERSION NUMBER\Installer\setup.exe" --uninstall --msedgewebview --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall
  3. Now run this updated command in your Command Prompt that has your machines version number - Example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application\142.0.3595.80\Installer\setup.exe" --uninstall --msedgewebview --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall
  4. Download and install the latest version of Microsoft WebView2 HERE
  5. Restart AutoCAD

For Windows 10

  1. Uninstall the Microsoft WebView2 Runtime Component from Control Panel - Programs and Features
  2. Download and install the latest version of Microsoft WebView2 HERE
  3. Restart AutoCAD
