There has been an error. Error while touching C:\Programdata\Autodesk\ODIS\AdODISInstaller.run.lock

Issue:

While installing an Autodesk product on a Windows machine, a message appears saying:

"There has been an error.
Error while touching
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ODIS\AdODISInstaller.run.lock"

Solution:

Try the below suggestions one by one.

Grant full permission to the Autodesk folders/registry keys for the user installing the software

Folders to grant full permission:

  • C:\ProgramData\Autodesk.
  • C:\Program Files\Autodesk.
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared.
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk.
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared.
  • C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk.
  • C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Autodesk.
  • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk.
  • C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Temp.

Registry Entries to add full permissions:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\AUTODESK.
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AUTODESK


Domain Administrator Profile

Install the Autodesk product using a Domain administrator profile with full Administrative rights.
 

New Local Admin

Create a new Local admin profile and install the Autodesk product.
