Creation of Import / Export Civil 3D or Map 3D user settings

Issue:

You have the need to either Export known good user settings or import known good settings into either Map 3D or Civil 3D and do not have the icons or shortcuts to do this. You have looked online and tried to follow this link (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-import-and-export-backup-settings-to-and-from-AutoCAD.html) but do not see the Icons or Shortcuts to either Import or Export, and only see the Reset Settings to Default icon.

Causes:
The Autodesk Installer for Civil 3D and Map 3D do not include these migration shortcuts, so you will have to make your own.

Solution:
The easiest method to create these shortcuts is to simply Create a New shortcut and follow the directions below:

1.Right mouse click on the Desktop and select New => Shortcut

  Step 1

2.In the Type the location of the item Copy and Paste the information below (the information below assumes the installation uses default locations, if you are custom locations, adjust the pathing accordingly):

Step 2

a.For Civil 3D 2024 Import Settings
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\AdMigrator.exe" /i /product C3D /language "en-US"
b.For Civil 3D 2024 Export Settings
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\AdMigrator.exe" /e /product C3D /language "en-US"
c.For Map 3D 2024 Import Settings
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\AdMigrator.exe" /i /product MAP /language "en-US"
d.For Map 3D 2024 Export Settings
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\AdMigrator.exe" /e /product MAP /language "en-US"
e.For earlier product years, simply change the year (2024) to the year you are using, so C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2023 for 2023 product years, C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2022 for 2022 product years, etc.

3.Once you have put in the information you need to reset the product year you have installed, click Next:

  Step 3

4.On the next screen, name the shortcut appropriately, to match the product and operation you have created the shortcut from:

a.For Civil 3D 2024 Import Settings name it:
Import Civil 3D 2024 Settings
b.For Civil 3D 2024 Export Settings name it:
Export Civil 3D 2024 Settings
c.For Map 3D 2024 Import Settings name it:
Import Map 3D 2024 Settings
d.For Map 3D 2024 Import Settings name it:
Export Map 3D 2024 Settings
e.Again, if you are using a different product year from 2e, rename it accordingly.

5.Click Finish and now you should have an Icon on the desktop that will allow you to either Export known good settings, or import known good settings into either Map 3D or Civil 3D.

6.To run the Import or Export, simply double click on the Icon and follow the prompts.
