Revit View Tabs will not let you pull them to a second monitor

With Revit the ability to pull a view tab out and pull it to another monitor there are some machine settings that are causing some users the inability to use this feature.

Solution:

  • Update your video card. How to update your video card.
  • Try turning on/off hardware acceleration and Smooth lines with anti-aliasing. Here is a blog on how to access the hardware/graphics within Revit.
  • Delete as much as you can from the temp folder located here: C:\Users\your user profile folder\AppData\Local\Temp. If something will not let you delete it click Skip. 
  • Verify your windows registry setting for  DragHeight and DragWidth located in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop are set to the value of 4. Make sure to reboot your machine so the changes gets updated.
  • If you have two video cards go into the bios and disable the onboard graphics card. This should be done by your IT.
