I had been wanting to posting this one for a while, Label Styles offer the options for a Block vs Tick component element types. This post is about one example that will show the functionality with Alignments Station Labels.
In their default location, there is no difference, it all comes down to when the label is dragged from its default location. In the examples below two Station Labels are shown, both with two componets, Text with a 90° rotation, with a line component one as a Block and other Tick.
The example below the Dragged State option is set to “Stacked Text”:
- Block - the line disappears, and the text is rotated.
- Tick – the line remains, and the text is rotated.
Different behavior can be seen when if the Dragged State option is set to “As Composed”:
- Block - the line is moved along with text rotation remains vertical.
- Tick – the line remains on the centerline and the text remains vertical.
This is just one example of how Label Styles settings can be leveraged in a Civil 3D style setup, as many other Label Styles have the Tick and Block as components.
