Fabrication CADmep Database Migration

Issue:

Every year there is a new version of Fabrication CADmep released. To keep up with the new versions you must migrate the current database and settings up to newer versions.

Notes:

  • When migrating the database all users must be out of the database and Fabrication products.
  • Always migrate through each version, even if that version of Fabrication will not be used. Example: current version is 2021 and installing 2023 to upgrade. Migrate from 2021, to 2022, to 2023, and then to 2024.
  • Default OOTB (Out of The Box) database location is here:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Fabrication 20xx….

Steps:

  1. Go to the Start Menu.
  2. Find the current version of Fabrication being used, click the folder to open it up:

  1. Select “Autodesk Fabrication Migration Tool.”
  2. Select “Import Fabrication Configuration.”

Image similar for 2021 and 2022 release

In 2023 and 2024 select the down arrow to the right to rollout the options

  1. Browse for the database that is needed to migrate then click “select.” Example is pulling the 2021 OOTB database. Select the "Perform Select Action" button

  1. Enter the name of the migrated database and click “Ok.”

  1. The new configuration will show up in the version you configured.
