IMAGINiT Utilities for Vault Client and Monochrome Inventor PDF’s

Shawn Heator

Issue:

The default setting for printing Inventor drawings to PDF with the IMAGINiT Utilities for Vault Client will print text and dimensions with the color specified in the drawing. The IMAGINIT Utilities for Vault Client will send the “Create PDF” job to the Vault Job Processor to process the PDF. Changing the default print settings for the PDF to monochrome (black and white) can be performed in a few steps on the computer hosting an active Vault Job Processor.

Solution:

These steps assume that you already have the IMAGINiT Utilities for Vault Client installed and that a Job Processor has already been setup and used for other jobs. If you are an IMAGINiT Technologies client and would like to request access for any of the IMAGINiT Technologies Utilities, then please visit the link below.

  1. The first crucial step to configuring the IMAGINiT Utilities for Vault Client to print Inventor PDF’s in monochrome is to exit the Vault Job Processor. Do not just minimize the Job Processor.

  1. Open File explorer and navigate to the IMAGINiT.VaultJobs folder for the version of Vault you are using. The example path below is for Vault 2021 but this process has also been confirmed for Vault 2020.

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Vault 2021\Extensions\IMAGINiT.VaultJobs

  1. Find the file InventorPDFFileConfiguration.ini and right click to select Open with Notepad.

  1. Change the default value for All_Color_AS_Black from 0 to 1. Save the file and exit Notepad.

  1. Launch the Job Processor. Select an Inventor drawing and use the IMAGINiT Utilities to Create a PDF. The PDF will now be monochrome.
