Civil 3D Corridor: How to Hide the Markers

THE ISSUE:

If you are using the out of the box Autodesk template or have a customized template; you might have the need to clean up plotted corridor sections.  Corridor markers can clutter section views:

THE SOLUTION:

Below we will revew (3) three options to clean up section views and remove the corridor markers:
1.    Layer State: OFF or Freeze
2.    Layer setting No Plot
3.    Style Control: Hide Component

OPTION 1:  LAYER STATE - OFF OR FREEZE

First option is to figure out what layer the mark(s) might be on.  Shown below the layer used is: C-ROAD-MARK.

The layer state can be set to Off or Frozen it globally, in model space.  The catch here is that it will make them disappear in sections and in the layout view.  If more layout is to be done, you will have to make the layer visible again.

The other option is to Freeze the layer from the View Port in paper space.  I prefer this method as it keeps the markers visible for layout purposes.  At the view port level, allows for model space layout and ensure clean sheets.

OPTION 2:  LAYER SETTING - NO PLOT

Second option, keep the markers visible and disable the plot feature for the layer.  On screen in Model or Paper space the markers will still be seen.

If we chose to print hardcopies or ore create electronic versions, the created output is clean.

OPTION 3:  STYLE CONTROL – HIDE COMPONENT

The third option is my favorite, the solution is about controlling visibility via the marker stye.  From the Maker Style dialog box > the Display tab > View Direction drop down > select PLAN > Leave component bulb ON.  With the component enabled here we can layout assemblies.
Then, switch View Direction drop down > select SECTION > and turn bulb OFF.  The component will still show for layout (plan) but disappear in grids (section).

Solutions sometimes have several options and once you find where the setting are, how they work, and how it fits your workflows it is easyer.  IMAGINiT can help you set up your template and leverage setting to create what needs to be delivered.  Please see our other post or reach out to us  for help.
