Welcome to my blog in a new series on What’s New in Revit 2024/ 2025 Sheet Enhancements.
Today, I am showing off an enhancement designed to ease sheet updates or last-minute changes in a Revit Project. This tool significantly simplifies the way we modify sheets and views in a REVIT project.
Rare are the projects that do not involve various last-minute changes to how the sheets are arranged or a need to incorporate updates in how we present the required content.
Key Enhancements of handling views on sheets (Move Aligned to Sheet)
In all previous versions of Revit, moving views would require you to remove each view from the sheet then replace it on a different sheet. With this new enhancement, you may directly move views from sheet to sheet with either a drag and drop, or a right click menu in the browser to move the view to a different sheet.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to using Move Aligned to Sheet:
1. With your model project browser open in the Revit Model,
- Select the view to move to a new / different sheet.
1. Use your left mouse button to drag the view to the desired sheet. Or right click on the view title, Select Move Aligned to Sheet then select the sheet to move the view.
2. REVIT moves the view and opens the selected sheet.
3. The view is placed exactly in the same position from the previous sheet.
Benefits of using Move Aligned to Sheet:
· Reduced time to update documents
· Reduced rework.
· Improved accuracy in placement of views
· Ability to instantly see the changes and make adjustments as needed.
Conclusion
Nearly every project requires changes to the construction documents somewhere along the way. Additions, modifications, field updates, changes in scope. This tool is an easy way of leveraging the initial work of placing views on sheets without having realign them on the new sheet.
Many ideas come to mind to use this enhancement. My first thought was as I set up the project documents. Simply create one master (non-printing) sheet with guidelines to align views. Regardless of the individual Crop, the project may be aligned from a common anchor point. Then use this tool to place successive views e.g. Multiple floors, Multiple disciplines onto their required sheets in exactly the desired position.
