Inventor 2024 error in Vault 'Autodesk Addin' -'Attempt by method to access method failed'

Issue:

'Autodesk Addin' error in Inventor 2024 when logging into Vault:

Attempt by method 'Autodesk.DataManagement.Client.Framework.Vault.Forms.Dialogs.LoginDialog.Dispose(Boolean)' to access method 'DevExpress.XtraEditors.XtraForm.Dispose(Boolean)' failed.

Cause:

The latest 'Woodwork for Inventor' update triggers the error.

See the Autodesk article confirming the 'Woodwork for Inventor update 14.2.3' is the cause:  https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/After-installing-Woodwork-for-Inventor-2024-V14-2-3-when-opening-Inventor-the-Vault-form-login-dialog-box-fails-to-load.html

Solution:

  • Temporarily unload the 'Woodwork for Inventor' Add-In under Tools>Add-Ins. Relaunch Inventor.
  • Uninstall and reinstall Vault Client 2024 and 'Woodwork for Inventor' per the article above.

In one instance uninstalling the Inventor and Vault 2024.3 updates resolved the error.

For best performance,  it's recommended to keep both Vault Client and Server at the same release(update) version:  https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-do-you-match-Vault-Client-and-Server-Builds.html
